I am so happy and grateful now that I have met some great friends in the City. Yesterday, I hung out with my friend Michael. He's a very attractive guy who is talented, funny, and honest. He invited me yesterday to hang out and have a late lunch with him. It was an excellent opportunity to get to know each other. He joked a lot about sexual innuendos and we simply had a great time. We even went to have dessert at a local shop before we headed back to the mall. He had told me about his claustrophobia and love for Chinese men. He was totally honest with me and told me that he thinks that I'm cute, but that he's not looking for a relationship just friends. He had confided in me about certain things and was finding that people were always looking to hook up when all he wants is friendship. He felt that it was complicating things and it was difficult for him. I understood and respected his wishes. I had to be honest with him as well so that things would be out in the open. Once things were all out on the table, it was easier to set those feelings aside and move on as friends. Things were not getting any better for him and the evening was cut short. It was a great time though and a great opportunity to get to know my new found friend.
Today, I didn't expect anything happen. I decided to enjoy my solitude and relax the entire day. I've been lacking a lot of sleep due to the off schedule I had a work last week. So, I didn't mind it at all. I slept off and on as well as eat a bit watching a few sitcoms, but I still felt bored. I was on the computer for a while, but even that didn't keep me interested. I switched DVDs to a science fiction cartoon to please my laziness. I had told Michael to call me today, but I didn't hear from him. I sent him a text message and told him that I hope he is well and to hang in there. He replied with a thank you and I left it at that. Not a moment later, I get a call from my other friend Eli. He asked me what I was doing and I told him that I was just relaxing. He invited me to go with him to see the musical Rent. I've always wanted to go see it, but I was just flattered that he invited me. He said that he invited another friend, but that he couldn't go because he wasn't feeling well. We set up to meet in front of the theater at 6:45pm. I jumped into the shower and dressed as quickly as possible for the occasion.
Everything was last minute and spontaneous, I hoped not be late and have missed the train. When I got there the next one wasn't going to arrive till 6:30pm. Fortunately, a train pulled up even though the sign said that it wasn't going to show up for another 14 minutes. I didn't complain because I was thinking of the positive. I got into the train and sat down listening to Anuna on my sister's iPod. I sat down and thought about the happy things going on in my life. My new friends, my family, the car that I have, the place that I live, the good housemates that I have... I even saw a mother holding her baby as we passed by. The baby was so joyful and it made me smile. I switched over to The Pianist soundtrack as I was in the mood for some Chopin. I eventually arrive at destination and hurried to the theater since it was exactly 6:45pm on the dot. I saw three security officers two of which were very cute. Anyway, I headed up the escalator that was not moving and scurried through the crowd to get to my destination. As soon as I arrived close to the theater, I phoned Eli that I had arrived. He said that he would wait for me in front, but I had immediately seen him on the phone and met up with him.
We walked into the theater together and he wanted to get a program. As soon as he got his program, we waited in line to get seated. I was very thankful that he invited me to join him to see this show. We sat down in the loge in the best seat in the house. He said that he had bought them earlier and it was a spur of the moment deal. He was lucky that those seats opened up and were available for him to buy. The person at the box office had told him that it became available, so he bought them then and there. The usher showed us to our seats and we started to have a conversation about things. It turned out that the other seat was for Michael, but he wasn't feeling well. I had a feeling it was for him, but I wasn't going to say it. He mentioned that he went to visit him earlier. I asked him how he was feeling and he said that he wasn't feeling very well. I mentioned that we had hung out the day before. We talked about a few things before the show started.
It really didn't hit me that I was at the theater watching Rent. Also, I did not know that three of the original cast members were going to be there, nor did I know that this was the last show in the City. I was amazed to see Anthony Rapp on stage. He is so HOT!!! He is so attractive. I love his glasses, the way his hair waves up and how tight his pants were. There were times where his shirt would hike up and you can see his stomach and red pin-striped boxers. He stood facing the left side of the stage and you could see how nice of a package he has as well as a nice rear. OMG! There was another guy that was totally my type. He was tall, skinny white guy who I thought was absolutely adorable. He played another character where he wore a suit, glasses, with his hair split and combed to the sides. Now that was really hot. Anyway, the first half of the show was amazing.
During the intermission, I couldn't believe I was there. It finally hit me. I was getting goosebumps everywhere on my body as they sang my favorite song from the show. I went to use the bathroom which surprisingly moved quite quickly along. Afterward, I wanted to find an ATM so that I can purchase a program, but it was time to go back to our seats as the lights flickered on and off. Fortunately, the vendors accepted credit card. I purchased my program and headed towards my seat. I remember sitting there in excitement waiting to see the rest of the show. I even kept thinking in my head that I was going to meet Anthony Rapp. I kept visualizing it in my head. The show was so amazing and sad at the same time that I nearly cried. It was so awesome. Eli and I couldn't stop talking about it. He even said that the guy who played Gordon and the business guy was cute. We have the same taste in guys. That's so awesome.
We headed out and took pictures together in the lobby in front of one of the posters. Two girls asked us if we wanted our picture taken and it was cool. After that we stepped out and we heard that the actors were coming out. He and I headed over there to see. I tried to take a picture of Anthony Rapp, but I only got one really good one. The others didn't come out because I couldn't remember to turn the flash on. Anyway, I was able to hand him my program for him to sign. I was totally speechless. He's so hot, I didn't even get to say hi or thank you. I got two other cast members to sign my program before we left the theater. Today was a spectacular day. I asked Eli if he was hungry and he said that his stomach was growling during the performance, so we went to Mel's for dinner. We had a good time talking about the show and the experience of it all.
We sat down and talked some more about stuff. Then, he started talking to me about something serious. Fortunately, I had quite a bit of experience with it many times. So, I listened and offer him advice about it. Eli and I have a lot of things in common. It was really nice to converse with him about things. I told him about my encounters that I had experienced trying to find relationships. From the few internet sites to meet guys, as well as, the club and bar experience. We had a really good talk and found that we related quite a bit. He said that I understood the closeness of families where others didn't. We had a great time talking before it got really late and he had to head out because of work. He drove me home and continued to find more and more stuff that we had in common. Before he dropped me off, he thanked me for going with him, but it was I who was thankful. Out of a day of laziness, I was able to see an amazing show, with great seats, and get the autograph of Anthony Rapp. All this with a really cool friend. Now this is what I'm truly grateful for.
